regardless of all of this, your friend is wrong. with a tire kicked over at an angle, it is no longer running true to the ground.
take any tire, mount it on an axle at a 30 degree angle off horizontal. Now, try and push that tire/axle combination in a straight line. You cant. It's impossible. The tire will try and change direction.
Therefore, any tire, beyond 0 degrees of horizontal or vertical change, will tend to wear. the greater this change, the greater the wear. period.
